BBC News today reported that Devon’s out-of-hours GP service has been rated “inadequate” and has been put into special measures by the health watchdog.

It is reported that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) originally raised concerns in an inspection carried out in July 2020. A further inspection was carried out in December but the CQC said there were still failings including a lack of training and a lack of staff.

Devon Doctors, the organisation responsible for out-of-hours GP services across much of Devon since 2004, maintains that progress is being made to improve services.

We often see GP negligence claims which are wholly avoidable even for an under resourced and under pressure service.
