We can’t believe it’s been a year since we opened our dedicated Devon office of Davies and Partners Solicitors!
It has certainly been an interesting and challenging year for so many with the second lockdown and ongoing Covid restrictions. But we are delighted that we have been able to provide so many clients across Devon, with our legal support throughout these difficult times.
We have been instructed in a diverse range of matters, including claims involving orthopaedic injuries (foot, hip and spines), severe neurological injuries, prescription errors, vascular surgery, gynaecological surgery, cancer misdiagnosis, ophthalmic injuries and a number of fatal accidents claims.
Following the many Covid related deaths over the last two years, we felt as a Firm, that it was hugely important to support to the valuable services offered by the National Bereavement Partnership, a Charity which provides a national support helpline, counselling referral and befriending service, for all those suffering from anxiety, grief or mental health issues as a direct or indirect result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud to have been able to support their work as a charity partner for the year.
On a local level, our North Devon office has also enjoyed providing our continuing support for the charity funded, community Atlantic Racquet Centre (ARC), in Bideford, which is providing a much-needed hub for people in the area to exercise, socialise and learn together.
As many of you many know, ARC is a volunteer led community business and registered charity, which is focused on improving the health & wellbeing of residents in Torridge and North Devon. ARC offers court hire, memberships and coaching across 10 tennis courts, three badminton courts and two table tennis tables. The Centre also boasts a gym, fitness facilities and squash courts alongside a friendly community café.
We are delighted ARC has gone from strength to Strength and it has been a joy to see its staff and team players wearing their smart new kit with the Davies and Partners’ logo on the back! We look forward to continuing our support for this hugely positive and health beneficial charity throughout 2022.
Another highlight of the year was investing in an automated external defibrillator (AED) for here at our North Devon office.
In the UK, more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year. Survival rates are just 1 in 10, and each minute that passes between the cardiac arrest and treatment reduces the chances of survival by up to 10%. 12 people under the age of 35 (including children) die each week from sudden cardiac arrest. Early intervention through CPR and defibrillators massively improves the chances of survival.
Davies and Partners are keen to be part of the ‘community provision’ of AEDs, something which has been championed by several organisations and was recently the centre of a high-profile campaign by the Justin Edinburgh Foundation.

Finally, just to say, from us all here at Davies and Partners, we wish all our clients a healthy and successful year and we look forwards to helping and supporting many more of you throughout North Devon throughout 2022.
